the erotic and ancestral healing
I’ve been thinking about why PULSE, and why now - and why I believe that group containers are essential for transformation, healing, and collective liberation.
Lately, I’ve also been sitting with the intersection between the erotic arts and ancestral healing - two threads that have guided my own becoming.
You can’t deny when you’re turned on.
The erotic is an access point to aliveness.
Once you touch that pulse of life, you can’t go back to playing small, to silencing yourself, to numbing out.
Playing in the relational erotic field opens doorways to transformation - in how we love, how we work, how we create, and how we hold ourselves.
There’s a reason patriarchy has always sought to suppress the erotic: to strip us from our pleasure is to strip us from our power.
This is why relational healing is essential - why sexual healing, emotional literacy, conflict resolution, and consciousness in love and intimacy are vital. And when we look through the lens of ancestral healing, we begin to see where in our lineage we lost connection to our erotic vitality.
Where our ancestors, in order to survive, may have had to bury desire, silence longing, or cut off pleasure.
To reclaim the erotic, then, is not just personal - it’s ancestral.
It’s remembering what aliveness feels like in our bodies and restoring what was numbed or forgotten through generations of survival.
When we touch that erotic pulse, we begin to call out the bullshit- both in the world around us and in our internal navigation system - and reorient toward empowered choice.
As Audre Lorde writes in Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power:
“The erotic is a measure between the beginnings of our sense of self and the chaos of our strongest feelings... once we have experienced it, we know we can aspire.”
For me, this is the heartbeat of PULSE - a co-created field where erotic aliveness and ancestral remembering meet.
Where we gather as Queer and Trans Asian adults to move, to feel, to transform old narratives, and to remember that desire is sacred.
Applications are due October 21.
Come explore with us.
